Shillong: East Garo Hills DEF took the trophy Saturday. They beat the 2nd MLP Battalion of Goeragre by 26 runs at the Allotgre Cricket Ground. The victors won the toss and batted first. They finished their 20 overs at 139 for five. The 2nd MLP Battalion fell short. They managed only 113 for five in their turn at the crease.
Eight teams competed in the tournament. The office of the DIG, Western Range, organized the event starting September 14. DIG Western Range J.F.K. Marak congratulated the players. He noted the tournament provided valuable experience for the personnel. "The tournament provided valuable experience and fostered teamwork and discipline among personnel," Marak said.
SP (Traffic) Rupam R. Marak linked the tournament to future goals. The force is prepping for the Police Duty Meet this December in Hyderabad. Officials want to spot top talent and leaders for higher-level squads. Senior leaders including East Garo Hills SP Abraham T. Sangma watched the final match alongside other regional officers.
