Guwahati: Tezpur Titans snatched a two-wicket win against the Guwahati Royals on August 16. The high-stakes thriller went down to the wire. The teams met for Match 30 of the Assam Premier League 2026 at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati. The Titans chased down a 201-run target with two balls to spare.
Guwahati Royals set the pace with 200/4. Sanjay Kumar Singh stayed unbeaten with 81 off 57 balls. He hammered four fours and six sixes. Gunjan Jyoti Deka added 41 runs. Nipan Deka provided a frantic finish with an unbeaten 43 off 10 balls. Nipan smashed 35 runs in the final over alone. That surge pushed the Royals to 200.
Tezpur Titans answered back. They reached 203/8 in 19.4 overs. Dibash Hazarika hit 73 off 42 balls, landing six fours and six sixes. Roshan Topno tacked on 39. Captain Ayushman Malakar delivered a cameo of 41 from 18 balls, clearing the ropes with four sixes. The Titans lost wickets frequently but stayed within striking distance. Prachurya Kataki stepped up when the game tightened. He finished unbeaten on seven off two balls to seal the victory.
Bastab Roy led the Guwahati bowling attack with 3/33. Nipan Deka also snagged two wickets. The result marked a massive shift in the standings. Reflecting on the final moments, Hazarika noted, "Dibash Hazarika led the charge with a brilliant 73 off 42 balls, including six fours and six sixes."
