Guwahati: Guwahati Royals dominated the Tezpur Titans in Match 15 of the Assam Premier League on August 8. The Royals chased down a 147-run target at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati with ease. They won by eight wickets with 43 balls to spare. This victory pushes the Royals to second place in the tournament standings.
Tezpur finished their 20 overs at 146/8. Wasim Akram Haque carried the innings with a fierce 82 off 54 balls, a knock featuring three fours and seven sixes. He found help in Nihar Deka, who added 20 runs to build an 82-run partnership after an early top-order collapse. The Titans crumbled late, losing their final five wickets for a mere 12 runs. Mrinmoy Dutta led the Royals' bowling effort with 3/27, while Nipan Deka and Deepak Gohain also took wickets.
The Royals started the chase with fire. Openers Rohit Sen and Sanjay Kumar Singh put up 108 runs in the first 10 overs. Sen hit 65 off 30 balls, setting the season record for the fastest half-century off just 23 deliveries. Singh mirrored the effort with 65 off 39 balls. While Danish Ahmed and Abir Chakraborty finally removed the openers, the game was already over. Captain Rishiv Das ended the contest, remaining unbeaten on 15 off seven balls.
Royals coach noted the team's efficiency: "Guwahati Royals completed the chase with 43 balls to spare." The Titans could not stop the momentum as the Royals secured the win in only 12.5 overs.
