Itanagar: New footage purportedly showing a confrontation between the Indian Army and China’s People’s Liberation Army has surfaced in the Taksing Circle of Arunachal Pradesh. The images and video clips carry a timestamp of July 26, 2026. Some local sources suggest the clash began as early as July 25. Official confirmation remains absent.
This latest incident heightens tension near Asaphila, an area under PLA control. The surrounding regions of Taksing, Maza, Galemu, Potrang Lake, Tama Chuchu, Galen Sinyik, and Shreechu Valley have seen ongoing controversy. The Nah Welfare Society previously alleged China built roads, bridges, and military camps on traditional grazing and forest lands. The Indian Army and Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Mama Natung deny these claims. They dismiss reports of encroachment as rumors.
The Press Information Bureau Fact Check unit recently debunked separate viral videos alleging a 60-km PLA advance. They labeled that older footage as unrelated to current events. However, residents argue the new visuals contradict official denials. Ajay Murtem, a public leader from Kamle district, sent an open letter to the Chief Minister demanding a ground-level assessment. Murtem requested, "coordinated verification involving the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Indian Army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police," to clear up the confusion.
The letter also demands stronger border surveillance and better communication with frontier communities. Murtem sent copies of his plea to the Union Home Minister and the Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister. Authorities have yet to verify the authenticity of these specific files. Uncertainty persists along the border.
