Meghalaya BJP Sets November Deadline to Finalize Grassroots Leadership

Shillong: The Meghalaya BJP is racing to overhaul its grassroots organization. State president Rikman G Momin ordered the appointment of mandal in-charges for all 60 Assembly constituencies covering the Khasi-Jaintia and Garo Hills regions. These leaders have a hard deadline of November 15 to build committees. The party requires in-charges to hit a target of at least 65 per cent formation for all booth-level units.

This push is the first step in a larger 100-day roadmap. In-charges must also name IT and social media conveners along with leaders for the Yuva Morcha and Mahila Morcha. They are required to file status reports in a specific format provided by party headquarters. The party aims to sharpen its political edge. The appointments span the entire state.

High-profile names lead the charge in the Khasi-Jaintia Hills. Cabinet ministers Sanbor Shullai and Lahkmen Rymbui will oversee South Shillong and Amlarem. Senior leader Alexander Laloo Hek takes Pynthorumkhrah, while party spokesperson Mariahom Kharkrang handles North Shillong. Other appointees include MLAs Synshar Kupar Roy Thabah, Mathew Beyondstar Kurbah, Olan Singh Suin, Balajied Kupar Synrem, and Pius Marwein.

The Khasi-Jaintia list also features Daniel Khonglah, Wankitbok Pohshna, Rihana Majaw, Dr Jemino Mawthoh, Mewaker Lyngdoh, and Donlang Nongbri. In the Garo Hills, Sengsrang G Momin, Bikash G Momin, Barning Marak, Henendra A Sangma, Thomas Marak, Walber Ch Momin, and Rapiush Sangma are set to coordinate their regions. The project reaches into every corner of Meghalaya. "The exercise aims to establish functional mandal and booth committees alongside dedicated youth, women, and digital outreach wings, with the November 15 deadline serving as the first milestone in the party’s 100-day roadmap," the party stated.
