Guwahati: Sribhumi Police seized 2,240 packets of DAP fertiliser from four trucks near the Sribhumi Toll Gate. The crackdown began when the Officer-in-Charge of the Sadar Police Station stopped a single loaded truck at the gate. Officers then expanded the operation, quickly tracking down three more vehicles filled with the chemical goods.
Sribhumi Additional Superintendent of Police Trinayan Bhuyan confirmed the haul. "Police are now investigating the intended destination and purpose of the consignment," Bhuyan said. Investigators suspect the cargo might have been bound for Tripura or Mizoram.
The force is currently digging into why these packets were moving. They are checking if the fertilizer was meant for local farmers or if someone planned to divert it elsewhere. Detectives are also exploring a potential link to an illegal smuggling loop involving Burmese areca nuts entering via Mizoram. No direct evidence currently ties the seized trucks to this black market network, but the investigation remains active as authorities trace the origin and final destination of the load.
