Guwahati: Tezpur police arrested Anushree Bora following the death of Amritpal Singh. Singh, a Sivasagar native, turned up dead in a Usha Nagar rental home on September 20. Officers moved quickly after his family filed a complaint at the Kachari Gaon Police Station. They insisted his death was a planned murder.
Singh previously worked as a chef outside Assam. He moved to Tezpur and held a hotel job before his death. The two were in a relationship that family members say caused tension. The family claimed, "The relationship had allegedly led to disagreements and pressure between the two." They also alleged Bora pressured Singh to cut ties with his relatives.
Bora is the daughter of local businessman Ranjan Bora and Rubita Bora from Patiyachuburi. Police took her into custody for questioning after the complaint surfaced. She appeared in court on Saturday and now sits in judicial custody. Investigators are looking at their movements and the state of the room where the body was found. While rumors persist about Bora and three men from Punjab, officials have yet to verify these claims. The investigation remains open.
