Assam BJP Expels Twelve Cachar Municipal Leaders

Guwahati: The Assam BJP state unit purged 12 party members from its roster today. They are gone. Party president Dilip Saikia signed the order after reports of broken rules surfaced within the ranks.

The axe fell on functionaries tied to the Silchar Municipal Corporation in Cachar district. These individuals allegedly violated party discipline, though the brass kept the specific details quiet. "The party's action follows allegations of indiscipline against the members," officials stated in the release.

The list of expelled members covers a wide swath of local wards. It includes Dipu Sinha of Ward 2, Monika Mondal of Ward 4, Sandeep Dutta of Ward 6, and Anupama Das of Ward 10. Also cut were Rathindranath Saha, known as Madhav, from Ward 11, Sangeeta Chakraborty from Ward 14, and Nripendra Narayan Thakur from Ward 19.

Rounding out the group are Manisha Dey of Ward 21, Rakhi Chowdhury of Ward 31, Saheli Dey of Ward 38, Debashish Roy of Ward 39, and Shiva Deb of Ward 40. The party leadership did not elaborate further on the nature of these disciplinary lapses.
