Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma says the BJP will grow its base in minority-dominated regions without watering down its core beliefs. The party wants more votes. It will not trade its principles for electoral gain.

Sarma addressed the party core committee to outline this strategy. He confirmed that while the party's vote share in these areas is trending upward, the expansion will remain tethered to the party platform. "Organisational expansion will continue, but there will be no compromise on ideology," he told the meeting.

Social reform remains a non-negotiable part of that plan. The government intends to eradicate child marriage and polygamy across the state. These practices must stop. Sarma insisted the party stays firm on these issues regardless of the political cost in minority zones.
