Guwahati: Barak Valley police intercepted 470 cartons of cough syrup during a late-night operation on November 3. The bust took place at the Balachara Toll Gate along the Silchar-Haflong National Highway in Assam. Officers uncovered the stash hidden inside a truck that was supposedly hauling a shipment of sugar.
Authorities from Borkhola moved quickly to secure the scene. They arrested the truck driver and the handyman on the spot. Both remain in police custody as the investigation continues. Officials have not yet released the specific identities of the suspects or further details regarding the seizure, noting that "further investigation is underway" to determine the full scope of the smuggling operation.
