Storm kills one in Assam after downing trees

Guwahati: A brutal storm tore through the Sadiya region of eastern Assam on November 3. The weather system slammed into Chapakhowa and surrounding areas during the early morning hours, causing chaos. It uprooted trees and paralyzed road traffic across the territory.

A massive tree crashed onto a potato warehouse in Seujnagar. Shivsankar Chah died in the accident. He was walking back from the bathroom when the timber hit the building. Local reports state the victim was caught by surprise during the night.

National Highway 115 remains blocked. Huge trees fell across a four to five kilometre stretch of the road. State authorities are working to clear the route after the storm left the region "severely affected."
