Guwahati: Locals in Chandkhira found a decomposing body in a waterlogged paddy field on September 21. They smelled decay near National Highway 8 and alerted the authorities. Police arrived to recover the remains just 20 metres from the road. The victim was 21-year-old Jubel Ahmed of Hatirgul, a YouTuber who went missing on September 17.
Officers retrieved a mobile phone, an identity card, and 7,020 rupees in cash from the scene. They also found his sandals nearby. The investigation now links this discovery to a wrecked red Pulsar motorcycle, registration number AS-10-F-5067, which police recovered from the same area on Friday. Theories vary. "There is no confirmed information at present to establish the cause or circumstances of his death," police stated while noting the ongoing inquiry.
Locals remain divided on whether a crash caused the death or if foul play was involved. The body is undergoing a post-mortem examination to determine how Ahmed died. Police have not yet filed formal charges as they wait for the forensic report.
