Imphal: The Makui Village Authority is demanding immediate action from Kangpokpi district police and local administration. They claim several social media pages are spreading lies. The authority wants these posts deleted. They also insist on public apologies to avoid legal consequences.
Trouble started after Facebook pages Zalengam Times and CHIKIM-TE-AWGIN shared footage on September 25. The posts claimed NSCN-IM and ZUF-K cadres were patrolling the Makui Thebram area near CRPF and CoBRA units. Village leaders dispute this. They claim an individual from an illegal bunker built by Laloi Kuki villagers recorded the CoBRA team during a September 23 site inspection. The authority said the incident was "twisted" and presented as propaganda.
Another target is the account M S Haokip (Kuki Ka Parivar). This account allegedly claimed the Kangpokpi Superintendent of Police ordered forces at Makui Naga village to fire on Chaljang villagers. The Village Authority labeled these claims defamatory. They also took offense at being called a "Kachha Naga village," calling the term provocative.
The authority noted the SP was tagged in these posts but no action followed. They fear this content will spark communal violence. Failure to comply will lead to criminal complaints against those responsible.
