Guwahati: A 3 lakh rupee loan turned deadly in Dhakuakhana. Police are probing if an unpaid debt led to the murder of 62-year-old businessman Pawan Jain. He went missing Tuesday after leaving his shop at 1 pm. CCTV footage showed him biking home before he vanished. His phone went dark soon after.

Family members alerted the Dhakuakhana police when Jain failed to return. Officers checked the residence of prime suspect Dhananjay Sahu, located just 150 metres away. They found Jain’s body stuffed inside a plastic bag in a bathroom. Police arrested Sahu, his wife Sita, their minor son, and e-rickshaw driver Raju Sahani.

Investigators returned to the crime scene Saturday to walk through the killing. They want to know exactly how the debt dispute turned into a homicide. Detectives are also digging into the specific role of Sahani in the alleged plot. Officials plan to compare the suspects' stories against forensic evidence. Regarding the ongoing investigation, police noted, "The exact circumstances surrounding the alleged murder remain under investigation."
