Guwahati: Sub-divisional authorities raided the Rangia Revenue Circle Office on September 19. They grabbed a man suspected of brokering illegal government deals. The suspect is Rashidul Haque, also known as Mune, who lives in the Pitambar Hatbajali area.
Sub-Divisional Commissioner Nawajit Pathak led the operation inside the Integrated Sub-Divisional Commissioner Office complex. Officers found Haque holding government documents when they moved in. The Revenue Circle Officer filed a formal complaint immediately. Police now have the suspect in custody for questioning.
Locals have long complained about middlemen lurking near the office. These fixers allegedly interfere with land records, document corrections, and property mutations. Officials claim, "The involvement of middlemen creates difficulties for ordinary citizens visiting government offices to access public services."
The administration is currently stepping up enforcement to clear the site of touts. Investigators will determine if Haque acted alone once the probe concludes. For now, the police investigation remains ongoing.
