Guwahati: Guwahati Traffic Police will restrict roads on October 21 and 22 to clear paths for Durga idol immersion. These measures aim to stop gridlock near Lachit Ghat and Pandu Port. The Deputy Commissioner of Police’s office released specific routes for idol-carrying vehicles to follow.

Drivers coming from Chandmari must hit the Maharaja Prithu Flyover, District Library, KLB Road, Sessions Court, and MG Road. Those from Tokobari, Paltan Bazar, Ulubari, and nearby hubs will travel through Aryanagar, AK Azad Road, Nepali Mandir, Gadhuli Bazar, Bishal Point, the Panbazar Railway Overbridge, Pani Tanki, and finally MG Road. Similar patterns apply to vehicles from Kumarpara, Lal Ganesh, GS Road, Rajgarh, Bhangagarh, Ganeshguri, Christian Basti, Dispur, and Kahilipara. Local units from Panbazar, Bharalumukh, and Shantipur also face mandatory route assignments.

Cops are diverting regular traffic at major junctions. Noonmati drivers heading to the flyover will shift toward Ganeshguri. Traffic from Jalukbari and Bharalumukh moving toward Chandmari and Dispur faces regulation near the Machkhowa Police Point. The city also closed BB Road between Ulubari and TC Point for idol transports.

Pandu Port arrivals must approach via Adabari Tiniali. Post-immersion, those vehicles must exit toward Jalukbari through Shadillapur No. 6 Colony. Officials banned idol transport trucks from entering Pandu through Maligaon Chariali. The Traffic Branch stated, "Vehicles carrying DJ equipment, sound systems or loudspeakers will not be permitted near the immersion ghats."

Commuters should avoid MG Road, GNB Road, and DG Road. Use the National Highway to reach Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport or Saraighat Bridge. Emergency and local resident vehicles remain exempt from these rules.
