Guwahati: Digboi Co-District Police are clearing the streets for Durga Puja. Private four-wheelers cannot access the road from Digboi Chariali to Paragdhar Chaliha Auditorium via Jasoda Road. This stretch is now a walking zone. Drivers heading to the auditorium must use the path through Digboi-Margherita Road, the Railway Station, and IOCL Road. Travelers coming from Pengaree must also stick to the IOCL Road route to reach Digboi Chariali.

Heavy freight is also banned. Trucks, tankers, and dumpers face restrictions from 3 pm to 11 pm at the Welcome to Digboi point and Golai Terminal. The police stated, "Motorists have been asked to follow the designated routes and comply with instructions from traffic personnel." Night buses, ambulances, and emergency vehicles remain exempt from these rules.

Tinsukia district magistrate moved to keep the celebrations sober. An order dated October 16 mandates a 24-hour dry day on October 21 for Vijayadashami. This falls under Section 52(1) of the Assam Excise Act, 2000. All retail shops, bars, and wholesale warehouses must lock their doors. Nobody can sell, serve, or possess alcohol during this window.

Drivers needing help can call Digboi Co-District Police at 6026901088. For fire or emergency services, use 6900010130 or 6000481748. Stay alert and follow the signs.
