Guwahati: Guwahati Police issued strict orders to manage crowds and keep the peace during Durga Puja. Officials want safe festivities. Committees must now follow precise rules covering noise, security, and road safety.

Sound control is a priority. Organizers must kill the music at 10 pm. Committees are required to keep volunteers on site at pandals through the night. These trained workers will handle security and help push crowds along.

Pandals need eyes everywhere. Every venue must install CCTV cameras to monitor the throngs. Officers in plain clothes will roam the sites to catch trouble. Organizers must set up separate entry and exit routes for men and women to keep traffic moving.

Police will hunt for booze. Authorities warned of strict action against anyone drinking alcohol during the event. Road safety rules apply to all riders. Both motorcycle operators and pillion passengers must wear helmets. Special zones at Pandu and Lachit Ghat are designated for the immersion of Durga idols. The force expects full compliance to ensure the holiday remains peaceful.
