Agartala: Tripura Police are locking down Agartala to safeguard the Mayer Gomon Durga Puja carnival. The department has combined state police units with Central Armed Police Forces and the Central Reserve Police Force to maintain order along the procession route.

Inspector General of Police for Law and Order Menchak Ipper met with senior officials, including West District Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak and Traffic SP Kanta Jangir, to finalize the security grid. The force is setting up checkpoints at key sectors to manage massive crowds and handle potential emergencies. Officers expect a surge of visitors from across the country and abroad.

Ipper wants participants to follow all official instructions, even when they seem restrictive. "Police directives must be followed even when they may appear inconvenient, as they are intended to ensure the safety and comfort of all participants," Ipper said. He noted that the force successfully handled the Durga Puja celebrations by working around the clock.

Authorities are urging the public to cooperate with personnel stationed along the route. If anyone runs into trouble during the event, they should head straight to a police officer for help. Officials remain confident the carnival will proceed without disruption if residents stick to the rules.
