Agartala: Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma is ditching his security detail. He announced the move on October 23 after growing frustrated with constant, unexplained changes to his Personal Security Officers. The MLA claims authorities pulled one of his guards on October 10 right before Durga Puja without saying a word. He wants answers.
Debbarma reached out to the police security wing on October 13. He sent copies of that letter to Chief Minister Manik Saha and the Director General of Police. Nobody answered. The legislator says he has dealt with revolving door security for the last four and a half years. He suspects internal sabotage. He stated, "Some party MLAs and Members of the District Council, along with certain other legislators, had also experienced repeated changes in their security personnel."
The MLA questioned why officials keep swapping his guards without a formal complaint or a clear reason. He fears some in the police administration are trying to create rifts among elected officials. He is now calling on Chief Minister Saha to launch a probe into these irregularities. For now, Debbarma is heading back to his village. He plans to run his organizational work from there, despite the regular travel required for his district programs. He is leaving his fate to the public, asking citizens to watch his back.
