Agartala: An administrative breakdown has hit nine government schools in Tripura's Ramchandraghat constituency. These schools lack permanent headmasters. Leadership voids have left parents and local staff worried about the quality of instruction. Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma sent a letter to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to demand immediate hires.
Debbarma called these schools "orphaned institutions" in his written appeal. The problem covers both high schools and higher secondary institutions. Three schools face the most severe shortages. Gourangatila, Ratanpur, and Ampura Higher Secondary Schools currently have neither a headmaster nor an assistant headmaster.
Three other schools, specifically Baijalbari, Baramaydan, and Birchandrapur Higher Secondary, lack headmasters and rely on just one assistant headmaster each. The situation at Baramaydan is set to worsen in September when its sole assistant headmaster retires. KMR, Debendra Choudhury, and Wandalwang High Schools are also operating without permanent leadership.
Debbarma praised the Chief Minister for recently starting a new building project at Baijalbari Higher Secondary School. However, he maintained that new walls do not fix a lack of oversight. "Without qualified leadership, classrooms remain directionless and students suffer," he stated in his report. Local parents are calling for fast recruitment to prevent further rot in the public education system.
