Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma marked Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday on September 17 by showcasing the federal government’s infrastructure track record. He credited the Centre with driving growth in the region since 2014. Sarma claims the Prime Minister views Assam as the essential gateway to the Northeast.
Sarma pointed to key projects as proof of this commitment. He cited the Bogibeel Bridge, the Emergency Landing Facility in Moran, the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu, and the expanded Guwahati airport. He says these works drastically improved regional connectivity. Sarma stated, "Over the past 25 years, first as the head of government in Gujarat and subsequently as Prime Minister, he had focused on welfare, social justice, infrastructure development and national security."
The Chief Minister took to social media to call for a statewide tribute. He invited residents to light an Ashirwad Ka Diya to wish Modi a long and healthy life. Sarma also offered personal prayers to Maa Kamakhya and Srimanta Sankardev for the Prime Minister. He emphasized that Modi has cemented Assam’s role in the national growth story through years of dedicated service.
