Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma pledged 200 crore to overhaul roads and drainage in Tinsukia. He added 50 crore for a new 1,000-seat auditorium. The announcement came October 28 at the Manab Kalyan Puja Bhawan.

Sarma set the stage for a major infrastructure push. He laid foundation stones for four projects worth 8 crore under the 15th Finance Commission. The Tinsukia Municipal Board leads these efforts. The Chief Minister also launched Samagra Seva, a 1.50 crore digital platform for city services. Residents can use the app to track waste trucks, pay taxes, and get trade permits. Sarma stated, "The digital initiative would reduce inconvenience for residents and improve the delivery of essential services."

Big plans fill the agenda. Officials intend to build a bus terminal, a multi-level parking garage, and a centralized District Commissioner’s Office. The government will also upgrade the Kachujan Stadium and the district library while adding streetlights across town. Ongoing work includes beautifying the Shaheed Piyoli Phukan Playground for 4.54 crore and cleaning the Bar Godha Pond for 2.33 crore. Further beautification is underway at Mahatma Gandhi Park and Bishnu Rabha Park.

Sarma linked these upgrades to the town's historical economic output. He noted that the state aims to build a university and an engineering college following a local medical college project. Linking the spending to recent election results, he cited the government’s decade of work on state peace and industrial growth as the backbone for these new commitments.
