Guwahati: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma opened a vertical green wall under the Bhagadatta Flyover-1 in Dispur on October 15. The project aims to scrub the air. It pushes back against urban pollution.

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation handles the rollout. The work falls under the National Clean Air Programme. Officials set aside ₹34.82 crore for the entire plan. They intend to install these living walls at 20 different flyover sites across Guwahati. This effort seeks to boost urban greenery, as Sarma noted the initiative aims to "strengthen efforts towards creating a cleaner and greener urban environment in the city."
