Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will launch a review of all ongoing development projects in the Barak Valley immediately after Durga Puja. The Chief Minister expects this session to fix bottlenecks and hit the gas on construction. Current projects in the region exceed 15,000 crore in value. Both the National Highways Authority of India and the Public Works Department oversee this work.

Roads in Silchar are in bad shape because too many construction sites are open at once. Sarma wants most of this road work wrapped up within a year. The Model Code of Conduct previously blocked joint review meetings between ministers and officials. Sarma stated, "The state government would review all ongoing development projects in the region after Durga Puja to accelerate their completion."

Officials will adopt a coordination strategy similar to the one used in Dibrugarh. This model forces ministers and staff to sit down and solve problems in real time. During his recent trip, Sarma met with 200 locals who could not make the trek to Guwahati. He believes bringing the government to the people helps residents raise concerns and get help faster.
