Dhubri Police Bust Drug Den, Seize Psychotropic Pills and Fake Cash

Guwahati: Dhubri police raided an illegal medical shop in Kalapakani Pt-II. Officers arrested the owner, Eliyas Sarkar, son of Hamed Mollah, for allegedly peddling drugs. The team from Dhubri Sadar Police Station executed the strike under the watch of Officer-in-Charge Pritam Das.

Police uncovered a haul of narcotics inside the shop. They confiscated 672 Pyeevon Spas Plus tablets, 260 Nitcor-10 pills, 150 Yaba tablets, and 15 Xedex tablets. These items weighed over 550 grams total. Law enforcement also found one air gun, a OnePlus mobile phone, and suspected fake cash.

The counterfeit haul totaled Rs 5,600, split between four Rs 500 notes and 18 Rs 200 notes. Officers seized all evidence and booked Sarkar. Investigators are now working to identify the network behind the operation. The department stated, "Dhubri Police have initiated further investigation to determine the source of the suspected contraband, establish the extent of the alleged drug network and ascertain whether other individuals are involved."

The haul at the medical shop also included specific weights for the narcotics: 383 grams of Pyeevon Spas Plus, 145.6 grams of Nitcor-10, and 25.5 grams of Yaba tablets.

In a separate operation, Dhubri police nailed an alleged Teer bookie on the night of August 11 near Shirighat along the Gadadhar River. Officers caught Abdul Khalek Sk, a Birsing resident, with Rs 1,200 in cash, a mobile phone, and a notebook packed with illegal betting records. Police are currently working to see how deep the gambling operation runs and who else is involved in the scheme.
