Guwahati: Jorhat police detained three women following the death of a young resident from Pokamura Na-pamua village. The victim died at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital after falling ill on August 15. She left her home that afternoon to meet a friend.

Her family filed an FIR at the Rowriah Police Outpost. They claim the woman was raped and murdered. Investigators are now piecing together the timeline of a gathering held at Gauri Apartment on the same day. One of the detained women holds the lease for that unit.

Some individuals who accompanied the victim to the hospital fled the scene. They remain untraced. Police are hunting for these missing persons to determine why the victim fell sick. Regarding the ongoing probe, authorities stated, "The exact cause and circumstances of the woman's death are yet to be established, and the allegations of rape and murder made by the family are also subject to investigation."

Officers are questioning the trio to uncover exactly who attended the apartment meeting. They need to learn how the victim ended up at the hospital. Further arrests are likely as the search continues.
