Guwahati: Dima Hasao police stopped three suspects at New Haflong Railway Station early Saturday. The group arrived from Silchar, aiming to board a train headed for Guwahati. Intelligence tipped off security teams to watch the men before the final interception.

Officers searched the suspects and found 220.6 grams of suspected heroin. The drugs were stashed inside 18 modified plastic soap cases. Police also took three mobile phones from the accused. The narcotics are now in police custody for investigation.

The detainees face interrogation to identify their supply chain and their final stop. Authorities filed a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Police called the bust a win for local efforts to stop drug runners, stating, "Police described the seizure as a significant success in the ongoing drive against drug trafficking in the Northeast, reaffirming their commitment to dismantling narcotics networks operating in the region." Legal proceedings against the three suspects continue.
