Kohima: The Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (WSBAK) hosted a Bible Festival at Zakenim Hall in Akuvuto, Thahekhu Village, on November 7. The event centered on the theme Alhou tsa ye Aküvü, or God’s Word is light. Organizers designed the gathering to build shared faith and encourage spiritual development across the community.
Rev. Dr. Khehovi Shohe, Director of the Sümi Baptist Convention, served as the primary speaker. He reminded the crowd that people require divine mercy to compensate for their inherent human imperfections. "God has given us His Word so that we may walk in His light and follow His guidance," he told the audience. He noted that even figures with great faith recorded in scripture possessed weaknesses.
Shohe warned against the dangers of self-reliance, comparing the path of those who ignore religious teachings to the sinking of the Titanic. He argued that just as the ship met disaster on its maiden voyage after hitting an iceberg, people risk going astray when they abandon spiritual direction. He reminded attendees that true salvation requires faith in Jesus Christ rather than mere reading of the text.
Ten areas under the WSBAK banner competed in various events throughout the day. Activities included an original song competition, adult and children's art contests, a Bible quiz, Bible cosplay, and Bible Mekua Leshe.
