Kohima: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav told students in Dimapur to take their voting rights seriously. He spoke at the Viksit Bharat Yuva Samvad programme held Thursday at North East Christian University. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and MY Bharat hosted the event. It aims to prepare young citizens for their role in the democratic process.

India stands as the largest democracy on the planet. Citizens hold the power to build the nation through justice, liberty, and equality. The Governor insisted that voting goes beyond simple choice. He said, "Your vote is your voice, awareness your strength and participation the foundation of a strong democracy."

Youth must drive the vision of Viksit Bharat at 2047. Government efforts alone will not succeed. The Governor pointed to Nagaland youth, noting their community values and talent. He highlighted the achievements of youth icon Kepozu and Pencak Silat athlete Liike Kibami. Both shared personal stories of success during the event.

Thounsinliu from the university chaired the session. Alphonse Toppo, the MY Bharat state director, handled the welcome. NECU vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. Darlando T. Khathing also spoke to the crowd. Attendees finished the day by taking the Loktantrik Pledge. K. Manikanta proposed the final vote of thanks after cultural performances by the students.
