Kohima: More than 150 retirees gathered at the Life Ministry Learning Centre Compound in Naga United Village on November 4. The group included state and central government pensioners, family pensioners, and senior citizens. They attended the Pensioners' Welfare, Banking Awareness & Health Screening Programme 2026. Organizers hosted the event under the theme, "Together for a Secure, Healthy, and Dignified Tomorrow."
The Naga United Village Council, State Bank of India Naga United Village Branch, and local health workers ran the event. SBI Branch Manager Kapani S. Kolakhe spoke at the session. He detailed the current Nationwide Digital Life Certificate Campaign 5.0. This push runs from November 1 through November 30, 2026. Kolakhe walked attendees through methods for submitting Digital Life Certificates. He also warned the group about digital fraud and outlined senior citizen banking perks.
Samuel Therieh, the chairman of the Naga United Village Council, opened the event. He told the crowd to ensure the elderly feel supported rather than isolated. "Urged the gathering to build a society where elderly are not neglected, isolated, or made to feel dependent, but are respected, supported, and treated with utmost dignity," the council stated. Helpdesks operated on-site to resolve issues. Staff handled document scrutiny, account updates, grievance filings, and life certificate authentication.
Medical teams ran parallel sessions for the seniors. They performed vital sign checks, diagnostic screenings, and clinical consultations. The staff also provided health referrals to ensure preventative care reached those who needed it most.
