39 Nursing Students Take Oath at District Hospital Dimapur

Kohima: Thirty-nine BSc nursing students took their oaths at the District Hospital Dimapur on October 13. The ceremony took place in the hospital Chapel Hall. It marked the second time the college has hosted a lamp lighting and oath-taking event for its students.

Dr. George Thirah, Medical Superintendent of DHD, addressed the recruits. He told them to be the kind of nurses that patients actually want around. He advised the group to seek work abroad once they graduate, noting they possess the skills to thrive in international markets. Tiakala Longkumer, representing the Nagaland Nursing Council, spoke about her own time as a student and the need for genuine compassion in an era dominated by high-tech equipment.

Prof. Emi Humtsoe of the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research spoke on the history of the Florence Nightingale Pledge. She reminded the students that the profession's core value remains "serving with humility and compassion." Principal-in-Charge Dr. Rachel Ao echoed these sentiments by highlighting the resilience and dedication required to handle the heavy duties of a professional nurse.

Assistant Professor Molungnenla Imchen led the lamp lighting and the formal recitation of the pledge. Assistant Professor Bendangrenla Jamir managed the welcoming duties, while Pursangla I chaired the event. Rev. Yhunlo Thong concluded the program by offering prayers and blessings for the future nurses.
