Kohima: The College of Nursing at District Hospital Dimapur hosted a regional seminar on July 16, 2026. The event centered on the theme, The Healing Power of Presence: The Forgotten Art of Nursing. Nurses traveled from across Nagaland to attend.
Participants included staff nurses, Community Health Officers, and ANMs. They represented sub-centres, wellness centres, and district hospitals from Peren, Longleng, Medziphema, Noklak, Wokha, Zunheboto, Chümoukedima, Nuiland, Kohima, Tuensang, Mokokchung, and Dimapur, as well as various private hospitals. The crowd was diverse.
Clinical Psychologist Nchumbeni Y. Jungio from CIHSR served as the guest speaker. She laid out the scientific roots of therapeutic presence. She told the attendees: "Stressing the need to treat patients as subjects and not objects."
Prof. Khumjanbeni Murry from the College of Nursing at CIHSR explained how to apply these concepts in actual clinical work. She highlighted the role of compassion in daily practice. Bendangsangla R., principal of the School of Nursing DHD, acted as patron and gave the welcome address. Assistant Professor Molungnenla Imchen chaired the event. The valedictory session featured Assistant Professor Limasungla Aier, while Lalthanzami from the Nagaland Nursing Council watched as an observer.
