Kohima: Health personnel in Dimapur finished a two-day workshop on October 7 focused on keeping PV solar power systems running. The training took place at the District Hospital on October 6 and 7. Staff learned to spot system damage early. They now know how to perform routine checks to keep the power flowing.
The curriculum included cleaning solar panels and clearing tree shade. Trainees inspected batteries for dust and checked charge controllers for error codes. Two workers from 50 different health units attended. The Chief Medical Officer Office stated, "The training was aimed at helping participants follow prescribed weekly and monthly maintenance schedules, reduce system failures and safety hazards, and extend the efficiency and service life of the solar systems."
Safety took center stage. Trainers warned against plugging DC bulbs into AC outlets. They instructed staff to read voltage and current labels on all DC fans and bulbs to avoid hazards. These specific measures aim to cut down on equipment failure across the region.
