Kohima: The Nagaland Board of School Education held two orientation sessions for its new Holistic Progress Card. Training took place on October 28 at Greenwood School in Dimapur and on October 30 at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts in Jotsoma. The board expects full implementation in all registered schools by January 2027.
PARAKH and NCERT designed the card under the National Education Policy 2020. It moves away from single-point testing. It tracks learner development throughout the entire year. The system incorporates teacher assessments alongside input from the student and their peers. Every activity measures three abilities: Awareness, Sensitivity, and Creativity. Students land at one of three levels: Beginner, Proficient, or Advanced.
Sessions focused on parts A through F and the official instructions. Educators practiced filling out mock profiles and held sample parent-teacher meetings. The board provided each attendee with a compendium, a roadmap, and a reference poster. As the NBSE press release noted, the card is a "national instrument for assessment of learner’s progress and development."
Teachers from all 17 districts participated in the events. These staff members must now train the remaining secondary teachers at their own schools. All institutions need to submit an Action Taken Report to the Board by December 15.
