Kohima: Thirty-two stalls filled the Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo (DABA) Sumedem Fellowship ground on October 6. The 11th edition of Made in DABA turned the spotlight on local talent. Young entrepreneurs sold handmade crochet, food, and various artworks. The DABA Youth Ministry organized the event under the theme, "Promoting Indigenous Products of DABA Young Entrepreneurs."
Youth Director Maongtoshi started this initiative back in 2016. He wants to push these local goods into markets outside of Dimapur and Nagaland. He pointed to the lack of proper distribution channels as a significant barrier for these creators. Unemployment remains a heavy burden for the region. Maongtoshi believes these ventures turn individual skills into real money. He maintains that Nagaland has the talent to compete on a global scale if the youth find the right platform.
