Kohima: The Department of Youth Ministry of Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu, known as SBAK, marked 75 years of service at the Nito Mount Mission Centre in Zunheboto on November 5. The Platinum Jubilee, running from 1951 to 2026, operated under the theme Joyful Harvest, taken from Psalm 126:5. It was a milestone event. Coordinator Inazhe N. Sümi chaired the opening of the Jubilee Monolith programme, while Rev Kughato K Chophi, the Executive Secretary of SBAK, led the unveiling.
Newtoli Yeptho directed the formal programme. Pastor Khekavi Yeptho dedicated a commemorative video titled Platinum Jubilee (1951-2026) produced by the Youth Department of Sümi Baptist Church Kohima. Other participants included Lily Chophy, who offered the invocation, and Toholi K Awomi, who led the responsive reading. Dr Anati K Yeptho offered the offertory prayer.
Rev Sühuto N. Chishi, Youth Secretary of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council, delivered the main sermon. Former Nagaland Minister Kheto I Kinimi attended to extend greetings. He recounted how the ministry evolved from its original CE nomenclature. Addressing the crowd, Kinimi noted his own recent recovery from illness, stating, "I was recovering from illness through the grace of the Almighty." He pushed the Sümi community to live honestly, practice what they preach, and maintain unity while looking to the lessons of past leaders.
Rev Dr Zühokhü Kiba provided the jubilee blessing prayer. Rev Dr Hokheto Chophi presented the official Platinum Jubilee souvenir. The event included musical performances by the Jubilee Choir and Akivito I. Assümi. Kiyelu K Yepthomi delivered the vote of thanks, and Ashibo Achumi closed the ceremony with a benediction before the crowd moved to a mass jubilee feast.
