Kohima: The Nagaland Department of School Education is now part of the 1 Million Voices on Future Readiness campaign. Advisor Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome announced the state’s participation on November 5. This national effort targets 10 lakh voices across India before the December 31, 2026 deadline. Participants may submit feedback in their preferred language.
Officials want to know if schools truly prepare students for life. They are targeting youth aged 12 to 25 alongside parents, teachers, employers, and government representatives. “We have spent years measuring whether children can pass exams. Today we are asking a different question: are they ready for life?” Dr. Yhome said.
Surveys focus on four key areas: desired future, choice, requirements, and obstacles. Data will measure five readiness dimensions: agency, awareness, connectedness, wellbeing, and mastery. This feedback feeds into the National Education Policy 2020 objectives. Findings might help build a national Future Readiness Index and the Holistic Progress Card.
The state aims to amplify rural and remote perspectives. The Department of School Education and Elevate Foundation lead the project within Nagaland. Dr. Yhome stated, “Our education system must respond to the diverse realities of our students, including differences in geography, language, access to resources and learning opportunities.”
Early results go to policymakers at InvokED 6.0 in Bengaluru on February 26 and 27, 2027. Use the MItra AI companion or a Google Form at tumbolo.shikshagraha.org to participate. Shiksha Lokam and Mantra4Change manage the broader Shikshagraha movement. Dr. Yhome urged local schools and colleges to ensure full participation. “Every voice matters. Your voice will help shape what our schools prepare children for,” he added.
