Kohima: Kiumuhean H, a student at Tetso College, took first place at the Chümoukedima district-level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament Competition. The event took place at C-Edge College on November 3. Thirty-one students competed from seven different institutions: Patkai Christian College, C-Edge College, NEISSR, Tetso College, Modern College, NIT Nagaland, and St Joseph University.

Kimkhailiu from Patkai Christian College finished as second runner-up. Anoli S Awomi of C-Edge College placed third. The winners now advance to the state-level round. Organizers aimed to boost youth involvement in democratic processes, teaching students about parliamentary practices and national leadership.

A panel of three judges evaluated the contestants on knowledge, argumentation, presentation, and parliamentary conduct. The jury included Dr. Salikyu Sangtam from Tetso College, Dr. Amongla N Jamir from Dimapur Government College, and Dr. Wapanginla Ao from C-Edge College. Participants also engaged with a video presentation regarding the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2026.

Additional Deputy Commissioner T Lemlila Sangtam, Principal Emeritus Dr. Chubatola Aier, and 2025 national-level Best Responder Award recipient Kepozo spoke to the crowd. They pushed the students to take an active role in their country. The speakers urged the group to be "informed, responsible and active citizens." The event served as a training ground for critical thinking and public speaking skills.
