Kohima: Zunheboto officials launched a new local language translation of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana on November 3. The District Administration and the District Hub for Empowerment of Women released the Sümi materials at the Deputy Commissioner’s office. This move aims to tear down language barriers for residents seeking financial aid and maternal healthcare.
Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj joined his staff to push the translated documents into villages and blocks. These guides explain the Direct Benefit Transfer system to ensure eligible mothers get their money. Along with this, the administration started a 100-day campaign called Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat. This Child Marriage Free India push leads up to the International Day for the Elimination of Child Marriage on November 27.
Raj told local leaders they must safeguard children and stop early marriages. He said, "He called upon community elders, church leaders and youth organisations to play an active and vigilant role in eliminating social evils and ensuring a safe and empowering future for young girls."
The team sent out a pledge in Sümi and details on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act of 2006. These documents now circulate throughout the district to stop social harm.
