Lotha Ekhung Ziekezou Kohima Marks 25 Years of Community History

Kohima: The Lotha Ekhung Ziekezou Kohima (LEZK) marked its 25th anniversary on November 7 at the Capital Convention Centre in Kohima. The event coincided with the Tokhu Emong festival, blending a milestone celebration with traditional community roots.

LEZK Chairman Abel J. Humtsoe opened the gathering by explaining the significance of Tokhu Emong. C. Nribemo Shitio detailed the group's history, noting the area was once called the DBS Sector Kyong Ekhung before evolving into its current form. He expects the colony to hit its 50th anniversary with a solid foundation.

K.N. Mhonthung Lotha, chairman of the Kohima Lotha Hoho, challenged the group to take on more leadership. He urged them to protect their identity and keep the environment in mind while managing their resources. He stated, "the festival should go beyond feasting and celebrations, promoting forgiveness, unity and collective progress."

Elias T. Lotha, who leads the Finance Committee, told the members to stop focusing on their differences. He reminded the crowd that everyone belongs to one family. He also called on local Christians to practice charity and lead meaningful lives. The event included a specific session titled Montao Epi Yi Nsam, led by steering committee co-convener Ethungbemo Ezung. Attendees left the silver jubilee committed to building a stronger future while keeping their heritage intact.
