Dimapur Lotha Students Union pushes traditional dress for Tokhu Emong 2026

Kohima: The Dimapur Lotha Students Union wants every Lotha resident in the city to wear traditional clothing from November 1 to 7, 2026. This push comes ahead of the Tokhu Emong 2026 festival. The union expects participation from all residents regardless of age or current job. Residents should wear these pieces at work, schools, markets, and public events.

Traditional gear matters. It carries the history and values of the community. The union believes that keeping these customs alive requires active participation from every person. The group stated that "cultural preservation begins with individual participation" and asked for unity during the week. This initiative aims to make Lotha traditions visible throughout Dimapur. The union expects full cooperation to show off their collective pride and sense of belonging.
