Kohima: The sixth edition of the Nagaland Literature Festival began October 30 at the Don Bosco Higher Secondary School auditorium in Kohima. The two-day event draws attention to the role of writers in exposing societal truths. Advisor of School Education Kekhrie Yhome delivered the keynote address.

Yhome argued that authors must look past the surface to find hidden narratives. He stated: "Writers must uncover society’s hidden stories." He noted that secrecy serves as a universal principle of the craft. Yhome also compared historical governance, noting how the Roman Empire organized their state while the Greeks prioritized faith.

The region faces real trouble. Northeast India has dealt with decades of conflict, violence, and social unrest. Yhome expressed worry over how easily local youths get misled when looking at the region's development since the 1960s.

Writers Collective general secretary Vizovono Elizabeth chaired the session. Rector of Don Bosco College Rev. Fr. Dr. Xavier Mattam gave the invocation. President Vishü Rita Krocha provided opening remarks before Müile Samuel Anar recited poetry and Guru Veswuzo Phesao performed a folk song.

Yhome launched four books during the program. The releases included Maria by Visemenuo Sekhose, Aigha Lê and The Tragopan’s Song by Inakali Assumi, and Faithful Ink by Avila Mongzar.
