Guwahati: Assam Police officer Mrinmoy Das secured the Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak 2026 for his work in intelligence. This marks his second major honor this year. He previously earned the Assam Director General of Police’s Commendation Medal 2026 in silver. Das recently moved from Tinsukia to Sivasagar district to take a new assignment.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs announced the winners on October 31, 2026. The department issued official communication 11024/02/2026-PMA regarding the honors. Two other Assam Police members, Havildar Dipak Borah and Senior Superintendent of Police Prasanta Saikia, also received awards in the intelligence category. They are among 490 personnel nationwide recognized for their service.

Awards are split into four disciplines. These include special operations, investigation, intelligence, and forensic science. Out of the total pool, 358 officers won for special operations, 123 for investigation, and nine for forensic science. Assam Police earned 19 additional spots in the special operations field.

The ministry established these awards on February 1, 2024. They mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Authorities must now verify all names and designations against service records. The government set a deadline of November 20, 2026, to finalize these details. The ministry stated that the program aims to "recognise exceptional contributions and encourage professional excellence among personnel engaged in policing, intelligence, investigation and forensic science."
