Guwahati: Dhubri district administration is clearing 2,850 bighas of government land in Alamganj Part-IX. The eviction drive starts October 31. Tensions are high in the Gauripur Revenue Circle. Officials finalized the operational plans and ordered all alleged encroachers to clear out immediately.
Many families are already pulling their homes apart. They hope to leave before the crews arrive. Some residents insist they bought their plots from private sellers without knowing the state owned the ground. These families are now pleading for the government to provide them with new places to live.
Residents pushed back against suggestions they are outsiders. One group told reporters, "We are not Bangladeshi nationals. We were born here, and our grandparents lived and died here. We purchased the land from certain individuals. We did not know it was government land."
The administration shows no sign of backing down. Officials maintain the land is state property and the law must be followed. They continue to urge everyone to cooperate and move out on their own. Families remain on edge while they wait for word on potential housing aid.
