Guwahati: Tension gripped Kordoiguri village in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Friday night. An Army team from the Ledo-Lekhapani military camp descended on a resident’s home based on intelligence tips. Locals reacted fast. Anger boiled over as residents swarmed the military vehicle.

An informant linked to the Army allegedly tried to bolt when the crowd grew hostile. Villagers caught the man and dragged him back to the soldiers. The Kordoiguri Suryamukhi Yuva Sangha slammed the operation. They called the incident a case of targeting an innocent civilian. "The episode has renewed questions about the verification of intelligence inputs, safeguards for civilians and the need for caution during security operations."

Soldiers initially hauled one person away. Senior officials stepped in as the standoff dragged on. The team turned back midway and returned the villager to his family. The event left neighbors shaken. Older residents compared the night to military operations from the 1990s. No official comments exist from the Army or police. Independent verification remains pending.
