Kohima: The Nagaland Baptist Church Council wrapped up its three-day NEXTGEN Christian Education Leaders Conference on September 10. Held at the NBCC Convention Centre in Dimapur, the event drew over 500 pastors, educators, and children’s ministry workers. They gathered to rethink discipleship for the next generation.
Bideno Kikon, secretary of the NBCC Christian Education Department, opened the program. Featured speakers included NBCC general secretary Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener, Emeritus Professor Dr. Alongla P. Aier, and BMS World Mission executive director Dr. Kethoser Aniu Kevichusa. These leaders tackled topics ranging from the Jesus-centered life to the core mission of the church.
The event relied on a wide pool of experts. Resource persons included Rev. Dr. Phanenmo Kath, Dr. Temjenpokba Longkumer, Hukheli Sema, Rev. Dr. Kedo Peseyie, Lezo Putsure, Gary Kamaa, Yangtsapila Sangtam, Dr. Adela Mero, Rev. Dr. Vetso Koza, Asanuo Seb, and Ashe H. Kiba. Their sessions spanned diverse topics: biblical gender identity, AI in the church, child protection, and raising resilient children.
Inclusivity remained a priority. Eliza Chishi led a breakout session on basic sign language to help ministers engage children with special needs. Youth dramas from Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church and Aoyimti Baptist Arogo added energy to the schedule. The Covenant Baptist Church Dimapur team led the worship.
During the final session, Dr. Kethoser Aniu Kevichusa delivered the closing message. Coordinator Shikalu J. Sumi offered thanks to the participants, and the council praised the efforts of local churches, stating, "The NBCC Christian Education Department expressed gratitude to all associations, churches, participants and families who contributed to the success of the programme."
