Kohima: The Nagaland State Transport Department launched a new bus service connecting Niuland and Dimapur. Peace Channel and the North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research pushed for the change. Both groups thanked the government for meeting their request.
Students bore the brunt of the previous lack of transport. Children and youth struggled to reach Dimapur for school or vital training programs. Without affordable transit, families faced major barriers. Peace Club members and local leaders joined the effort to fix the gap. They argued that reliable transport builds better communities.
The organizations believe this move brings relief. It eases the heavy financial and logistical load on local families. The groups stated: "The Government’s positive response reflects the importance of community concerns being addressed through constructive engagement with public institutions."
This new route improves mobility across the region. Leaders hope it paves the way for better attention to underserved areas. Peace Channel and NEISSR remain focused on peace education. They plan to keep working with officials to push for inclusive development throughout Nagaland.
