Kohima: More than 10,000 people flocked to Peletkie Village in the Peren district for an 11-day festival. The 2nd Cosmos (Nraipa) cum Lekie Cai Ngyi wrapped up on October 20. Registered attendance topped 10,000, though organizers noted many more guests arrived without official sign-ups.
Peren ADC Robin served as the guest of honor for the final day. He praised the event for highlighting the blooming cosmos fields and the local Lekie Cai salt-making method. The festival serves a greater purpose. Robin noted, "many youths were unfamiliar with how the salt was prepared."
Officials hope the event fosters unity and preserves indigenous knowledge for younger generations. Robin pushed villagers to keep offering warm hospitality to those still traveling to see the flowers, which remain in bloom throughout the month. The village remains open for guests despite the formal end of the festivities.
Kwetliabe Haisobe compered the closing event. LMBMB home evangelist Kaisi Miliang led the invocation. Opening remarks came from committee secretary Ngautube R. Zeliang, while co-convenor Inkieng Chamlak gave the closing speech. Performers Suihakpe Miliang and Inteule Nring provided music. Associate pastor Teiriesong Miliang closed the day with a benediction.
