Kohima: Eight cultural troupes filled the St Xavier Parish Hall in Jalukie town on September 8. They met for the Bharat Ko Jano Yatra, a chain programme held in Peren district. The North East Zone Cultural Centre Dimapur and the Ministry of Culture organized the show. They worked alongside the Nagaland Department of Art and Culture.
Performers arrived from across Assam and local communities. The lineup included the Nagajori Sanskritik Kendra from Golaghat, the Nimheghi Club representing the Sumi tribe, and a Chakhesang folk group. Zeliang community performers rounded out the list with the Indigenous Cultural Club Jalukie B, the Jalukie Students Union, the Samziuram Cultural Troupe, the Intimate Cultural Troupe from Heningkunglwa, and the Jalukie Town Youth Group.
Guest of honour and ADC of Jalukie Sub-Division, Albert Ezung, addressed the crowd. He highlighted the strength found in regional differences. "Therefore, we survived strong enough to live together," Ezung said. Other officials attended, including Major Devesh Kumar of the Assam Rifles and NZPO adviser Kevipele.
Teisovikuolie Therie, the Deputy Director and Nodal Officer for NEZCC, delivered the keynote address. The event began with an invocation from Associate Pastor Namnabi Hegui. Namgwangheile Nsarangbe served as the compere for the day, while District Cultural Officer Mapeudibe offered the vote of thanks.
